DAPAONG

PROJECT NAME: SOLAR PANEL WATER PROJECT
CITY/ TOWN: DAPAONG
COUNTY: SAVANE REGION, TOGO
FUNDED BY: H2O-OASIS

IMPLEMENTING PARTNER: SHAHAM

The Savannah region, with an area of approximately 8500 km ², covering two prefectures: Oti, capital and Tone Mango, capital Dapaong. It is bordered to the north, east and west by national borders separating Togo Burkina Faso, Benin and Ghana, south by the Kara region. In the region, the water balance is unfavorable due to insufficient and erratic rainfall, isolation and evaporation high and the low relative humidity (minimum 15% in dry season ) Although the rainfall recorded in different stations is apparently sufficient agronomic results are uncertain and often poor. Indeed, low rainfall more or less important is frequent during the rainy season which slows or blocks the start of cycle plant.

Project Description

A team from H2O Oasis visited this area to conduct a diagnostic. It is estimated that US $ 25,000 would be sufficient to help provide three solar panel bore holes in each village in the area. The organization is working to raise fund and projects to finish the boreholes by December 2013.
