Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is H2Oasis?

H2Oasis is an international non-profit and non-governmental organization that provides access to safe water to deprived communities in third world countries by implementing cost-effective, technology-driven, sustainable reliable solutions in drilling boreholes and using non-conventional and renewable energy options such as Solar-Powered and Pressurized Pumps to pump and control distribution of water. In parallel, H2O-Oasis is planning to be engaged in building healthier and environment-friendly sanitation schemes coupled with designing effective programs for hygiene practices.

Where is H2Oasis operating?

H2Oasis is currently operating in West Africa, in countries such as Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso with a further committed plan to expand to other countries in Africa and around the World in cooperation and partnership with other international organizations and NGOs.

How is H2Oasis helping the situation?

H2Oasis, with its implemented, ongoing and pipelined projects has been putting smiles on faces of those who have no access to safe water by minimizing the risk of being susceptible to water borne diseases such as diarrhea attested clinically to claim the lives of roughly 675,000 around the globe annually including children, women and the elderly based on the World Bank, UNICEF and WHO among other international organizations. Below are some photos illustrating cases of severe contamination s:

Other than providing access to safe water to communities in Africa, H2Oasis also Provides communities with the training necessary to maintain the boreholes and fix any minor issues that may occur. Additionally as part of its social responsibility, H2Oasis Interacts with locally-available medical centers and hospitals to strengthen preventive medicine and secure essentials through providing medical diagnostic and laboratory equipment’s, medications, beds, and personnel as needed.

How much does it cost to build a well?

It costs about $5,000 to build a standard well with a manual pump; and it costs $7,500 for a borehole with solar panel.

Who will build the wells?

H2O engineers will build the wells themselves and involve the community as well. H2O has drilling equipment headquartered in Ghana and those equipment are moved accordingly to where the need is for a well.

What kind of technology are you using to build the well?

We use a solar system (solar panels and solar pumps) to build a well and then use a rig to drill the hole and install the pipes inside. In some areas where we cannot synch enough to access purified water, due to the soil type, we use purification systems to obtain clean water.

How are the wells maintained over time?We train the community to do the maintenance of the well for themselves. There is also a monthly check up of the wells by a committee to ensure there is an appropriate use of the wells.

What percentage of donations goes directly to the project?

80% goes to the project directly and 20% goes for office equipment, payment, logistics etc…
